– Existing, single-family home sales totaled 465,400 in August on a seasonally adjusted annualized rate, up 6.3 percent from July and up 14.6 percent from August 2019.
– August’s statewide median home price was $706,900 up 6.1 percent from July and up 14.5 percent from August 2019.

LOS ANGELES (Sept. 16) – California’s housing market continued to improve in August as home sales climbed to their highest level in more than a decade as the median home price broke last month’s record and hit another high, the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.) said today.
Closed escrow sales of existing, single-family detached homes in California totaled a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 465,400 units in August, according to information collected by C.A.R. from more than 90 local REALTOR® associations and MLSs statewide. The statewide annualized sales figure represents what would be the total number of homes sold during 2020 if sales maintained the August pace throughout the year. The current absorption rate is -.83, which means we are still in a seller’s market with low inventory. While things have settled down here in South Shore a bit, we suspect this is due to a myriad of things-chief amongst which are the devastating West Coast wildfires and unhealthy smoke conditions. Coupled with adapting to the all new remote learning, which duties are now born upon the parents and families of school aged students.
