STATELINE, Nev. – American Century Championship organizers are hoping fans that line Lake Tahoe beaches in boats to watch and interact with celebrities, will show the country how to “party smartly” amid the coronavirus.The boats and party scene along hole No. 17 has served as NBC’s iconic television shot portraying Tahoe before a national audience for 30 years during the celebrity golf tournament. With restrictions in place due to COVID-19 preventing the tournament from allowing spectators on the course, efforts by fans to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebrities from the water is expected to be even more heightened, officials said. Pending home sales reached a 44.3 percent monthly increase in May-a new record, according to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). After two previous months of declines, pending home sales are showing a market rebound, with every major region recording a month-over-month increase. According to NAR, the Pending Home Sales Index (PHSI) increased to 99.6 in May-the highest MoM growth since NAR began the series in January 2001. Since the same time last year, pending home sales have fallen 5.1 percent. NAR expects existing home sales to reach 4.93 million units in 2020, with new home salespotentially hitting 690,000. In addition, in 2021, NAR expects sales to rise to 5.35 million units for existing homes and 800,000 for new homes. Finish reading here.
South Lake Tahoe Real Estate Market Stats
With a 2.3% absorption rate, Lake Tahoe real estate is an extreme seller’s market. Given the current state of the Covid world and while access to Tahoe for many is virtual, somewhat counter- intuitively, we are still enjoying an active real-estate market where solid values can be obtained by the buying and selling markets. Real estate listing Inventory is maintaining a slow but solid number of new listings coming to market while other inventory leaves the market in the form of sales (see absorption rate above) or expired listings. What we look for in these leading indicators is direction of the RE market for purposes of anticipating pricing and sales expectation. What we see currently is consistency (as opposed to volatility, such as the liquid equity investments markets). The housing market continues to recover with pent-up demand surging at the national level and mortgage applications rising as buyers capitalize on record low rates. While the outlook for the real estate industry is looking more positive than before, the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy will linger on for a while. There are encouraging signs that the economic downturn has reached the bottom. Even so, the resurgence in coronavirus infections in recent weeks suggest that the pandemic is far from over. U.S. pending home sales surged: The U.S. housing market mounted a record comeback in contract signing in May after two consecutive months of sales declines. NAR reported that the Pending Home Sales Index surged 44.3 percent in May, registering the biggest month-to-month increase since NAR started reporting the series in January 2001. On a year-over-year basis, the index dropped 5.1 percent. The index in the West region soared 56.2 percent from April but was down 2.5 percent from last May. Finish reading here.
