Heller is lead sponsor of the bill which has support from California and Nevada Senators. A standalone version of the bill already cleared the Senate Environment and Public Works committee by unanimous vote. It was subsequently attached to the Senate’s Water Resources Development Act, or WRDA, a much broader water bill that would authorize funding for billions of dollars in projects nationwide.
If the bill clears the Senate it would still need approval from the House of Representatives. The House has a much smaller Lake Tahoe bill that would authorize only about $100 million in spending. Finish reading here.
