Dining recommendation from Shannon Witt:
If you you’re staying in South Lake Tahoe you’ll most definitely and to try out Kalani’s Restaurant. Kalani’s, which means the Heavens in Hawaiian, is located in the Heavenly Village shopping center right across from the ice skating rink. The menu is a fusion of Hawaiian and Japanese flavors cooked with European techniques. They offer a variety of plates from land and sea as well as a sushi bar. Kalani’s was featured in bon Appetites magazine for their signature dish the Miso Yaki Sea Bass.
The atmosphere is up scale with a relaxed finish. As a local for 16 years up here I would say it’s one of the best restaurants we have in town. I would highly suggest reservations as they fill up fast. There is also a wonderful happy hour menu that starts at 4 in the Puka Lounge. For more information go to their website at www.kalanis.com
