FOMC Keeps Rate Hike off The Table at May Meeting 

The Federal Reserve announced that while economic activity has continued to strengthen along with the labor market, it will not raise rates following its May meeting. During its March meeting, the Federal Open Markets Committee raised rates for the first time in 2018, increasing the federal funds rate by 25 basis points. But after this month’s meeting, the FOMC announced it would keep rates the same, maintaining the target range at 1.5% to 1.75%. Finish reading here.

The Amgen Tour of California returns to Lake Tahoe for two exciting stages of professional road cycling on Friday, May 18. The field of 17 men’s teams and 15 women’s teams will feature the top cycling teams in the world, including Olympic medalists, Tour de France contenders, and World Champions. Whether you are a visitor or a local, this is the perfect opportunity to experience world-class racing up close! Lifestyle Festival – Heavenly Resort’s California Base Lodge Beginning at 10:00 am, the Lifestyle Festival will feature activities, vendors, and the best chance to see the riders up close at the Start/Finish line. Arrive early to enjoy the opening ceremony, and watch the women sign in for their start. The women’s race is expected to finish around 2:20 pm and the men will be arriving around 3:20 pm. The award ceremony will begin once the last male rider crosses the finish line. Festival attendees are encouraged to carpool, bike and/or utilize the free shuttle, which is a continuous loop available from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm on Ski Run Blvd. Please flag the shuttle driver.
