California’s housing market started the year on a high note, following up on December’s strong showing with higher sales both on a monthly and yearly basis in January, C.A.R. reported. Closed escrow sales of existing, single-family detached homes in California totaled a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 420,100 units in January, according to information collected by C.A.R. from more than 90 local REALTOR® associations and MLSs statewide. The January figure was up 2.1 percent from the 411,430 level in December, and up 4.4 percent compared with home sales in January 2016 of a revised 402,220. As residents in the Lake Tahoe area shovel out of their homes, ski resorts are boasting impressive totals of powder underneath clearing skies. The Lake Tahoe ski resorts are reporting up to five feet of new snow in the last seven days. If the month of March is a normal month with heavy snow, most resorts should see record breaking snow fall by the end of the season. The National Weather Service in Reno forecast, there is a 20-40 percent chance of snow in South Lake Tahoe through Saturday. Ski and snowboard season at Vail Resorts’ Lake Tahoe properties will head into mid and late April this year, the company announced Wednesday on the heels of a series of winter storms that dumped more than 6 feet of snow if seven days.
Heavenly Mountain Resort will stay open daily through April 23, as well as the weekend of April 28 – 30, according to a press release sent Wednesday.  Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Dreu Murin. Ten locals will be paired with ten dancers to perform numerous styles of dance including West Coast Swing, Bollywood, Samba, Country, Salsa, Musical Theater, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Jive and Pasa Doble. This interactive production is fun for all ages and truly allows the audience to be a part of the show.  Similar to the popular TV show, they will learn a choreographed dance routine complete with costumes. Our distinguished judges for the evening will be Marcia Sarosik, Don Bosson and Paul Middlebrook. The audience will have the opportunity to vote by text for their favorite couple.
