Upper Truckee

One of South Lake Tahoe’s largest residential neighborhoods is Upper Truckee. Spanning from the Y to the base of Echo Summit in Meyers, this area provides a wide variety of housing options. While the Upper Truckee area is close to a variety of outdoor recreational activities thanks to the nearby Desolation Wilderness, it is also close to necessary amenities such as gas stations, a grocery store and dining. This neighborhood is split into two neighborhoods.  Upper Truckee 1, beginning at Highway 50 and ending at Zuni St, and Upper Truckee 2, which begins at Zuni St and ends at Tahoe Mountain Road.

In 2007 this neighborhood experienced the devastating Angora fire, where several homes and acres of forest burned down.  The neighborhood is making up for the loss by building new custom homes, making this area a prime location for new construction. Also desirable are the large lots providing privacy and great mountain views.
