LOS ANGELES (Sept. 17) – Fueled by mortgage interest rates at near-three-year lows, California’s housing market recorded a second consecutive year-over-year sales increase while the median home price reached a new high, the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.) said today. Closed escrow sales of existing, single-family detached homes in California totaled a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 406,100 units in August, according to information collected by C.A.R. from more than 90 local REALTOR® associations and MLSs statewide. The statewide annualized sales figure represents what would be the total number of homes sold during 2019 if sales maintained the August pace throughout the year. It is adjusted to account for seasonal factors that typically influence home sales. Click here to learn more.
 
Snow fell from the sky Monday all around the Lake Tahoe Basin and coated the ski areas in a layer of white and another dusting may be on the way. Resorts posted photographs Monday from the summer snow and first real cold storm of the season. The opening dates for resorts are still several weeks away, with Heavenly Mountain Resort opening Nov. 22, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows on Nov. 15, Kirkwood Mountain Resort on Nov. 27, Diamond Peak on Dec. 12 weather permitting and Sierra-at-Tahoe is still unannounced but open typically in mid-to-late November.
